THE BEES

We currently have 5 hives here on the farm and hope to expand our apiary over the next few years. 

Our hives are situated in our newly planted orchard, perfectly situated to take advantage of the plethora of wild flowers on the farm, the brambles and tree blossom in the hedges, the fruit blossom in the orchards and of course the Heather on the moors.

The last few seasons have been hard on the bees with cold wet springs and late summers. We like to overwinter them on their own honey as we feel it keeps them healthier over the cold months. This of course does mean that we sometimes have to sacrifice our share.

When we do have honey, it truly is amazing! Our honey burns as it slides down your throat, which all good honey should as that's when you know it's doing you good. Honey has so many healing properties and we are strong believers in them.
